Hair…comes the bride

The crowning glory of your wedding day look is your hairstyle. Whether you’re planning a sophisticated ceremony in a silk sheath dress or a barefoot outdoor party, there’s a bridal hairstyle that can highlight both your beauty and the feel of your day. Here are some ideas to help you find your perfect wedding day ’do.

This soft updo is laid-back and romantic. Great for adding volume to flat hair, these waves can be created with a curling iron or rollers and then pulled into a loose knot at the nape of the neck, or a bit higher. A few pieces fall around the face to keep the look from being severe. Accessorize with a subtle and sparkly comb, but let the hair take center stage here.

A wedding calls for a little something extra up top. This modified bouffant (created by the architects of Sarah Palin’s famous bouffant) allows length and height at the same time, and gets some hair off the face to highlight neck and shoulders. Bangs pushed to the side counteract a bump on top to keep the look from prom territory. This style would work with glossy, straight hair as well.

A bohemian look – headband and loose waves – is perfect for a bride planning an outdoor ceremony. This look emphasizes texture and movement and hangs beautifully over the shoulders and down the back of the neck. Incorporate a feather headband for a look that’s at home in the great Alaskan outdoors.

A sleek updo doesn’t have to be boring. Hair is pinned back from the face and gathered in a glamorous bun at the back of the head. Perfect for an elegant, sophisticated wedding, this look allows carefully chosen hair accessories to shine while showing off the real reason for the day – the bride.
