Ana & Rylan

July 9, 2016

Bride’s name: Ana Avila

Groom’s name: Rylan Hall

Occupations: Ana is a social services program coordinator and Rylan is a financial services professional.

How they met: “Our colleagues teamed up to try to get the two of us to meet. After several weeks of pressure on both ends, plans are finally made for a drink at the Crow’s Nest. I remember walking down a long corridor up to Rylan and putting my hand out to introduce myself. A bit nervous, Rylan completely misses my hand. We laugh, walk to the restaurant, and seven hours later it’s closing time. I remember the pain in my cheeks from smiling all the way home that night.”

The proposal: “Late after we returned home from a concert, we walked our dog on the trail that follows a creek near our neighborhood. When we returned home, Rylan got down on one knee. Nervous and excited he put the ring on my finger and said, ‘You’re the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with; will you marry me’?”

Number of guests: 230

Wedding colors: Champagne, pink and gold

Most memorable moment…
For her: “The moment my father opened the car door to walk me down the aisle and the look on Rylan’s face as I walked towards him. “

For him: “Standing at the end of a lonely dock, anxiously waiting to turn and see my bride for the first time.”

Unique aspects of the day: “Getting married at the family lake house, where we spend our summers splashing in the lake and our winters on the snow machines, was truly meaningful to us. The yard was converted to a beautiful masterpiece with rows of floral arches, tall brass candelabras, and a giant floral chandelier, all made with love by the mother of the bride. The music, to include a live band and brother of the bride, created a fun atmosphere for us and our guests to enjoy. Many of our friends and relatives traveled far to celebrate with us and their presence made us feel special.”

Funniest moment: “Somehow our dog escaped from the cabin. We happened to be dancing our first dance when our dog walked on to the dance floor and quietly followed us the entire dance.”

Three words that best describe their day: “Romantic, elegant, party.”

If they had the chance to do it again, what they would do differently: “Nothing; everything was exactly how we had imagined it. From the ceremony, to the guests, to the weather… it was perfect.”

What Ana loves most about her husband: “He’s playful, charming and has a wholesome heart. He’ll give you the shirt off his back; that’s just the kind of man he is.”

What Rylan loves most about his wife: “Her eyes, her willingness to try anything, her passion and drive to always be better than the day before. She keeps me grounded; she’s my rock.”

Best piece of advice for a couple planning their wedding: “Take the time to appreciate the journey and to appreciate each other.”
