Kaitlin Kloster and Derek Wells

March 4, 2017

Kaitlin and Derek had an intimate wedding on the beach in Seward. The owners at the ceremony site created a beautiful tipi for the couple to stand under, along with “fireweed lining my path to the ocean, where our lives began together,” recalls Kaitlin. The bride was barefoot and remembers the water washing over her feet as the couple shared the vows they wrote for each other. But mostly, she says, “(I remember) the joy in Derek’s eyes when our eyes met.” After the ceremony, several guests picked up their instruments and started playing together. “Many of us are musicians so … we had an all-out jam session,” recalls Kaitlin. None of the guests came from Seward, but everyone loved the “incredible weather” and the beauty of the area. Many went on to experience more of Alaska while the weather was so nice. After the wedding, Kaitlin and Derek traveled on to Whittier, followed by a stay in Willow with retired sled dogs. “The whole trip was a vacation,” says Kaitlin. “I would relive it again if I could.”
