Dena Kautz and Robert McCharge
May 20, 2010
One evening when Rob noticed Dena was not wearing her usual silver band on her left pinky, he offered to get it for her. When he returned, he slipped the band on her ring finger with her palm-side up, puzzling her completely. After noticing the band looked thinner, Dena flipped her hand over to find a stunning diamond ring before her eyes, as Rob asked her to marry him. He couldn’t wait to propose to her after buying the ring only a day before, but this was the most romantic way Dena could have ever imagined it to be. Prior to the ceremony, in true non-traditional style, the couple met at the altar, with no one else present but the photographer. “We then spent the next few hours before the wedding together with our bridal party riding around in a limo and stopping to take pictures and to also go through Miller’s Ice Cream drive-thru!” recalls Dena. As the ceremony began, Rob, his groomsmen and ring bearer arrived on his jet boat from across the lake. Another special moment was watching the flower girl, also their 14-month-old daughter, run down the aisle at full speed with a big smile. She had just learned to walk in time.
