Kristen Snoderly and Jeffrey Hughes
September 4, 2010
Jeff is in the aviation field and has a long history with airplanes, so he and Kristen decided to have an aviation-themed wedding at the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum – a fitting venue site as it is filled with airplane memorabilia and history. Their guest book was an actual metal propeller that they found at a parts shop for old planes. “It’s such a unique and meaningful piece of art that we can have forever,” says Kristen. The cupcakes were topped with chocolate airplanes, and songs like “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Come Fly with Me” played during the reception. Kristen even found cufflinks of Jeff’s favorite airplane, a P40 Warhawk, to give him before the ceremony. The whole day was perfect, from start to finish, says Kristen, but it was the vows that were extra special. “We wrote our own vows, and they were unique to us, to our relationship, and to how we feel about each other. Everyone, including me, was expecting Jeff to be his typical ham-it-up self and crack jokes or be generally silly during the vows. He was so serious and calm, something rare for him, that it made me feel like every word he said to me he meant with all his heart.” Jeff says: “To see Kristen smile so much and really enjoy her own wedding day made my wedding experience perfect.”
