Caroline Black and Brandon Requa
February 12, 2011
On their wedding day, the temperature dipped to 10 degrees in Girdwood, but Brandon and Carrie were too happy to notice. Carrie surprised Brandon on the stairs of the hotel for a first glimpse. “It was amazing to walk down the stairs and see the never-ending smile on Brandon’s face.” Brandon then surprised Carrie with a special bracelet to wear with her wedding dress. The couple incorporated a romantic, winter wonderland theme of snowflakes and crystals, carried out in colors of white, silver and blue. “Our ceremony was very special and involved both of our families and many of our friends. Each of our family members read a special prayer and Brandon’s grandmother read the Bible reading.” The priest asked Carrie and Brandon to turn around and truly thank their parents for their support and love. “There weren’t very many dry eyes in the congregation.” At the reception, instead of throwing the bouquet, there was a special dance for married couples that ended with the couple that had been married the longest. Carrie and Brandon asked for their advice on having a long life together, dedicated the bouquet to them, and gave the wife the bouquet as a gift of gratitude. Carrie appreciated Brandon’s involvement with the entire process and planning. “All of the details came together to form a perfect day, with a light dusting of snow to add to the ambience.” It was truly the wedding they both wanted and planned together.
