Melanie Schoppe and Donald Yunker

Melanie and Don never expected a perfect wedding, “but our wedding was perfect for us,” says Melanie. Despite the failed attempts to bustle Melanie’s gown, the emotional officiant, and the broken cake topper, Don and Melanie feel that they can say nothing went wrong on their wedding day. “Our day was what we wanted; it was friends and family celebrating together.” Before their outdoor ceremony at O’Malley’s on the Green, 70 butterflies were released in the Japanese Garden. “One of the butterflies stayed on my bouquet until Don and I were about a third of the way up the stairs after the recessional.” The funniest moment was prior to the ceremony when the groom’s party borrowed a giant pink bunny from two ladies that were walking by during pictures. All of the men agreed to keep the kidnapping of the bunny a secret. They did very well, says Melanie, because the first time she had any idea about the bunny was when she saw the first group of pictures on the photographer’s website. “That has also become another story for our day as everyone that sees the pictures asks ‘what’s the deal with the bunny?’ ”
