| Stress Rx So, you're planning to
tie the knot but it feels like the knots are in your stomach? As
your wedding day approaches, you may become increasingly emotional,
anxious or stressed out.
Here are a few tips for relief:
- One of the best ways to combat stress is to exercise. The more
energy you use, the more stress you rid yourself of. Go to the
gym or go for a brisk walk. Stretching is another great stress
reducer.
- Too much caffeine and sugar can jack up the anxiety level even
more. Try drinking more water and eating healthier foods that
aren't going to make you even edgier.
- Take a few moments each day to do relaxation exercises. Breathe
in and out gently and, as the self-help pros say, let yourself
go to "a happy place" in your mind.
- Laughing and singing are good stress busters.
- Get a massage. As muscles ease, the body produces fewer stress
hormones and calms the nervous system.
- Dim the lights in the bathroom, light some candles and take
a nice, hot bath.
- Go out for a romantic evening with your sweetie, and do not
talk about the wedding plans.
- Don't expect perfection. Expect a "terrific" day.
Setting expectations that are too high will create stress and
lead to frustration, and then more stress.
- Feeling stressed about certain elements of the wedding like
saying your wedding vows or your first dance? Relax, close your
eyes and visualize the events going smoothly. Do this exercise
several times a day if you need to.
