Blair Boyt and Nicholas Patterson

August 8, 2020

Blair and Nicholas met in Idaho while they were both fighting wildfires and working for Fish and Game. While Blair was on a fire-fighting job in Moose Pass, Nick flew up from Indiana to visit her for the first time in months. “He dropped to one knee right there in the Anchorage airport!" Blair and Nick tied the knot on the front steps of their cabin in Gakona, and were married by Blair’s father. Nick decorated the railings and door with branches from the property and some antlers. “It was just the three of us,” says Blair. “Afterwards, we went to Gakona Brewing for some beers and then had a casual dinner at the Gakona Lodge. Married on home soil in every way.” The funniest moment of the day involved pets, as often happens: Blair says “our dog Trout had snagged one of the antlers off our front porch that we used for decoration and refused to give it back. The champagne pop was also a wonderful moment. Our little black and white dog Odyn wanted a taste for himself!”
