Bride’s name: Lindsey Rountree

Groom’s name: Colin Mocek

Occupations: Lindsey is a nurse and Colin is an aerospace engineer.

How they met: Through a mutual friend. “We conquered long distance for four years until his job brought us to Kansas where we could finally be with each other permanently.”

The proposal: Colin proposed during a walk down the beach with their friends in New Jersey. “It was unexpected and perfectly us.”

Number of guests: 100

Wedding colors: Dusty rose, burgundy, mauve and copper

Most memorable moment…

For her: “Looking out at our guests who flew thousands of miles to be there for us and seeing my groom waiting for me with the biggest smile on
his face.”

For him: “How beautiful my bride was when I first saw her; she was glowing and I couldn’t believe she was about to be my wife.”

Funniest moment: “When the bride’s brother took over the dance floor and stuck the landing on a backflip!”

Unique aspects of the day: Some of the special touches during their big day included a handmade arch by the bride’s brother, hand-written love letters that Lindsey and Colin gave each other right before their first look, a giant Jenga and cornhole for the guests before the ceremony, confetti cannons after the kiss, a trail mix bar, their own “Mocek Mule” signature drink, a tiered cookie cake, an airplane propeller for the guest book, Lindsey’s getting-ready robe that was made from her mother’s old wedding dress, and a Model A transport car to reception.

Three words that best describe their day: “Romantic, breathtaking, fun.”

If they had the chance to do it again, what they would do differently: “We loved our wedding day but it was a lot to do from afar. I would hire a wedding planner to help if I had to do it all over again!”

What Lindsey loves most about her husband: “His sense of humor and desire to always make sure I
am happy.”

What Colin loves most about his wife: “Her sense of adventure and her caring nature.”

Best advice for a couple planning a wedding: “Have your wedding be exactly what you want it to be; don’t get caught up in what other people think you should do or want you to do. Remember: It is YOUR day and you will be the ones who remember it forever.”
